The Banality In Self Pleasure:
People and Their Sex Toys is photo series exploring the ideas of sub culture, identity and sexuality in Melbourne, Australia. It asks the viewer correct their possible assumptions and encourages a positive re-evaluation of self-pleasure. Sex toys still have an association with taboo, despite the natural urge for pleasure we all feel, the idea of self-pleasure remains something that has not reached the habitual and normality of the everyday. Through the separation of frame between the portrait of each individual and their sex toy, it is up to the viewer to connect the two images and form a notion about this individual, hopefully in this process the viewer realises and corrects any possible assumptions they may have made.
